Turn on the radio and sooner or later you're going to hear "Lips of an Angel", the latest hit from rock band, Hinder. Get the scoop on the boys behind the band right here
Who's who in breakthrough bands? According to Launch!'s Who's Next contest, it's Hinder by a landslide.
Formed in 2002, Hinder was originally the vision of guitarist Joe Garvey and drummer Cody Hanson. When they found Austin Winkler singing for a cover band at a college party, they knew they had something.
"I heard him and was blown away," Cody said. "You can't really compare him to anybody." And Hinder was born.
It wasn't too long before Hinder was signed to an independent label and released their first album, Far From Close. After selling 5,000 copies, the release found its way to Universal Records. By then the trio had added Mark King (guitar) and Mike Rodden (bass). The group signed with Universal and in 2005, released Extreme Behavior, their first major LP.
Get Stoned was the first single to find its way to the charts and in 2006, Extreme Behavior went gold. By August, Hinder had graced the Top 40 with Lips Of An Angel and just one month later, the song ranked in the Top 10 and Extreme Behavior had reached platinum status.
Lips Of An Angel went on to top the charts at #1 in November of 2006 and remains popular today. The band has toured with notables such as Nickelback, Three Days Grace, Hoobastank and Staind and 2007 took Hinder on their first European tour.
