If you've been relying on Miller Lite's "Man Laws" for proper etiquette and form, you're going to have to start figuring things out for yourself. Man Laws are no more.
"No man shall mute the TV to answer his wife or girlfriend."
"No man shall garnish his beer with fruit."
"No man shall put two rival beers in the same cooler."
These are just a few of the rules, "Man Laws" proposed and voted on by the Men of the Square Table. It was one of Miller Lite's latest advertising campaigns and was expected to become an institution all its own.
But now? Well, you'll just have to get your Man Laws somewhere else.
According to an article at Advertising Age, Miller Lite has decided to pull the Man Law campaign in the face of declining sales. The campaign - created by advertising agency Crispin, Porter & Bogusky of Miami, premiered in the Spring of 2006 and featured manly icons such as Burt Reynolds, Jimmy Johnson and Triple H to discuss and debate acceptable behavior for fellow manly men. You cannot for example, wear diamonds because diamonds are a "girl's best friend". Men are expected to put the needs of their vehicle before all others and if you leave your food and/or seat for more than five minutes, both are considered fair game.
The commercials brought laughs but apparently didn't do much for sales and Miller Lite execs decided to pull the plug.
So, what about all the men out there relying on Man Laws to guide the way? Not to worry. You can still get your fix (for now at least) at the official website - ManLaws.com - and according to a Miller Lite spokesperson, the Man Laws may be down, but not necessarily out for the count.
