Although the Godfather of Soul passed away on Christmas Day, his body remains locked up at his home while family members try to settle his estate.

Soul singer James Brown died from heart failure on December 25, 2006. His funeral services have been held, but the body remains locked in his Beech Island home while family members try to work out his estate and come to an agreement on where he should be buried.

"The room where his body is being held is being kept at a controlled temperature," said Charles Reid, manager of the C.A. Reid Funeral Home in Georgia.

No specifics have been given on what exactly is at issue but attorney Thornton Morris said that "the hope is that all parties can sit down and figure out what the problem is and what the challenges are..."

Brown's partner and mother to his 5 year old son found herself locked of of their home as a result of the family squabble. No word on whether she plans to file a suit.
