In the winter of 2004, Girls Gone Wild creator and producer, Joe Francis was the victim of a weird robbery gone bad. Darnell Riley, described as a Hollywood "wannabe", broke into Francis' Bel Air home and forced the well-known producer to make a suggestive and humiliating video tape.
The investigation was moving slowly until Paris Hilton heard through the Hollywood grapevine that Riley was boasting about the break-in. Passing the information onto Francis, Riley was later arrested and pled guilty in 2006. He was sentenced to eleven years in prison for robbery and attempted extortion. But rumor has it, the story doesn't end there.
Apparently, Paris was also the victim of a break-in and although not forced to make a video like Francis, existing videos from her private collection were stolen. An anonymous caller has offered to sell the tapes back to Hilton but so far, Paris has declined to give in.
The videos are assumed to be sexual in nature and there's speculation that at least one includes comments made by Paris that led to the breakup between her and Simple Life co-star, Nicole Richie.
Will the truth finally come out? We can only guess. Watch MSNBC's Dateline tomorrow night, Saturday, September 23rd at 8pm to find out.
